We're Hired!

Before I even retired, I got another job! Step 2 toward setting an official retirement date from Citi Cards was to secure a work-camper job for the Fall. Between Workamper News and KOA, mission accomplished! Our target was the Tennessee/North Carolina area, hoping to experience the "changing of the leaves." Thanks to God's grace and a wonderful couple In Sweetwater, Tennessee, who were willing to take a chance on "newbie" work-campers, Drew and I will be spending September and October doing just that. So my official retirement date is set for August 1, which will give us time to meander up toward Tennessee, arriving at the KOA there the last week in August.

Our Dreams

Once you tell someone you're going to retire, their first question is, "what are you going to do?" Those of you who know us well know about our plans to travel North America in our RV. But that's about what we're going to DO. This post is about what we want to get OUT of our retirement. I hope by committing it to writing, we'll make sure to stay focused on what's important. And for us that's:
  • growing in our faith
  • seeing and appreciating God's great wonders
  • enjoying time with family and each other
  • giving back with our time and talents

So as you read about our adventures, I hope you'll find we're staying true to our dreams.

Out of the House and On the Road (Almost)

June 1st was an eventful milestone. We leased our house at the Beach and moved into the RV. Going from 2500 square feet to 300 square feet wasn't a breeze! You can see the house we left and the motor home.

Our first stop didn't take us far--only to Stagecoach RV Park in St. Augustine until I finish my job. We've made lots of trips back to the garage getting just what we need and rid of what we don't. Goodwill was a major recipient of our pared-down lifestyle. There's lots to be done getting ready for full time travel, setting everything up online, deciding on four seasons of clothes, obtaining medical records, mail forwarding service, and the list goes on. . .
